SETUP

Getting Started

Follow these steps to power, charge, connect, calibrate, and reset your device.

Button Layout

Power On / Off

Press the Home button to turn on the controller.

Hold the Home button for 3 seconds to turn off the controller.

Hold the Home button for 8 seconds to force-shut down the controller.

Charging

  • When the battery is low, the Power LED blinks red.
  • While charging, the Power LED stays solid red.
  • The controller can be charged via the Type-C port or charging station.
  • The controller automatically powers off if it remains unconnected for 1 minute after startup, or if there is no input for 15 minutes while connected.
  • The controller will not automatically power off when used in wired mode.

Windows Connection Tutorial

System requirement: Windows 10 (1903) or above.

Wireless Connection

1. Turn the Mode switch to 2.4G position.
2. Connect the 2.4G adapter to the USB port of your Windows device.
3. Press the Home button to turn on the controller.
4. Wait till the controller is successfully recognized by the device.

Wired Connection

Connect the controller to your Windows device via a USB cable and wait till the controller is successfully recognized by the device.

Android Connection Tutorial

System requirement: Android 13.0 or above.

Bluetooth Connection
1. Turn the Mode switch to BT position.
2. Press the Home button to turn on the controller.
3. Hold the Pair button for 3 seconds to enter its pairing mode, the Status LED will blink rapidly.
(This is required for the very first time only)
4. Go to your Android device's “Bluetooth Setting” and turn it on, pair with “8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless”, the Status LED will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.

Joystick/Trigger Calibration

Please follow the steps below:

  • With the powered-on state, press and hold the "LB+RB+Minus+Plus” buttons for 8 seconds to enter calibration mode; the Status LED will start to blink.
  • Push the joysticks to the edge and rotate them slowly 2–3 times.
  • Slowly press the triggers to the bottom 2–3 times.
  • Press the same “LB+RB+Minus+Plus” buttons combination again to complete the calibration.

Re-pair

1. Turn the Mode switch to 2.4G position.
2. Press the Home button to turn on the controller.
3. Hold the Pair button for 3 seconds to enter its pairing mode, the Status LED will start to blink rapidly.
4. Connect the 2.4G adapter to the USB port of your Windows device.
5. Wait for the controller to automatically pair with the receiver, the Status LED will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.

POWER USER

Advanced Tutorials

Configuration guidance for remapping, turbo, profiles, firmware, and advanced input behavior.

Turbo Function

  • D-pad, Home button, LS/RS are not supported for turbo.
  • The turbo settings will not be saved permanently and will revert to default settings after the controller is powered off or disconnected.
  • The Mapping LED will blink continuously when the configured button is pressed.

L4/R4/PL/PR Buttons Configuration

  • Single or multiple buttons on the controller can be mapped to the L4/R4/PL/PR buttons.
  • LS/RS are not supported.
  • The Mapping LED will blink continuously when the configured button is pressed.

Light Effects

Color Options

Press and hold the Star button+ D-pad left/right to change the lighting color.

Brightness Control

Applicable only in Light-tracing mode and Rainbow Ring mode.
Press and hold the Star button+ D-pad up/down to adjust the brightness.

FAQ

How to enable the zero-dead zone mode on the joysticks?

In power-on state, press and hold the Minus (-) and Plus (+) buttons for 5 seconds to toggle the zero-dead zone mode on/off.

Is it possible for multiple controllers to pair and connect with one adapter?

No, each adapter can only support one controller connection at a time.

Does it support the mobile version of the software?

No, it only supports the Windows/macOS version of Ultimate Software V2.

What joysticks are equipped on the Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller?

HallPi TMR Joysticks.

Is the Motion Control available on both Windows and Android?

Yes, it can be configured as the left joystick / right joystick through the Ultimate Software V2.
